Actor Billy Zane is raising a glass to his pals and the like. The actor, known for his role in ‘Titanic’, has just participated in the world premiere of ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ and was in positive mood to express all the good things he had to say about the experience. Zane expressed his emotions on Instagram about the film’s director, James Cameron, and saluted the person who was part of that filming family, but not present at the time.
“So proud of my dear friend, the brilliant and kind @jamescameronofficial for knocking it out of the park again!” Zane wrote. “Even farther this time, I think. An exceptional story about a family overcoming adversity.” he said. He disclosed that he and his daughter, Ava, greatly enjoyed the movie. However, his post became somewhat more contemplative, focusing on a person who was not there.
“It was also a wonderful tribute to the other half of @_lightstorm.entertainment sadly not on stage this time,” Zane continued. “The late and great @jonplandau and his unwavering commitment to excellence, tempered by the most generous, infectious and approachable nature. In a nutshell this movie!”
Zane’s post and the ensuing comments were redolent of the emotions that were pervading the director Cameron at the premiere. In one of the event’s video clips, he referred to the film’s wonderful crew as a “family.” Then he singled out Landau, his producing partner for 33 long years, who died last year, informing the audience directly about his passing. “John struggled so much to stay with us and to remain a part of the film,” Cameron said, tears in his eyes. “His presence is felt in all the Avatar movies… I think it sort of drives us to step up and go to a higher level to make a film that he would have taken pride in. And that is what we did.”
Zane’s post undeniably reflected the sentiments of other people who were also influenced by the genius director, Cameron, over the years. One person linked Zane’s legacy to that of the director saying, “Learned a lot from both you and Jim studying Titanic as a film! Timeless! 👏 you continue to inspire me!” It is indeed a full-circle moment connecting the epic romance of 1997 to the epic science fiction of today.
Another comment by a user made the nostalgic factor and the bonding that came with it back in those old days. “So great seeing you, Michael Biehn and Arnold at the premiere, old-school Cameron alumni 😀,” the user said, grouping the other stars from Cameron’s classic movies like ‘The Terminator’ and ‘Aliens’ with Zane, Biehn, and Arnold. It gives the impression of a reunion, a gathering of artists who have been part of the making of Cameron’s legendary career and are now coming together again to help him with his latest monumental project just by their presence.

The prevalent idea, in both Zane’s post and the comments, was respect and family—besides, their relationships are very strong both in front of the camera and behind it. Cameron states that the new ‘Avatar’ main theme is the way “humans deal with their losses and their grief.” For Zane and the large Cameron creative family, the premiere was a chance to publicly mourn the death of Jon Landau by celebrating his role in the creation of the art that he so dearly loved. The last thing Zane said in his post was very simple: “See it!” It is a recommendation that is very strongly based on personal experience and a deep respect, thus, marking the turning point of the long and fruitful collaboration between the great filmmakers with a vision and the actors who embody their worlds. This moment sparked Titanic nostalgia. In other news, James Cameron has co-directed a tour film. Zane has also transformed into Marlon Brando for a new role. He was recently stunned by a hyperrealistic portrait of himself. He also shares artistic moments, like a morning at The Broad Museum, with his followers.
