Robert Wagner Remembers Late Wife Natalie Wood on 44th Anniversary of Her Death: ‘Forever Missed’

Robert Wagner shared a tribute to his late wife, Natalie Wood, on the 44th anniversary of her death.

Wagner, 95, posted on Instagram:

“Thinking of Nat today. Her warmth, beauty, and love remain with us through our children and grandchildren. Forever missed, forever cherished. More than love,” he said.

Natalie drowned off the coast of California in November 1981 at the age of 43. Natalie was sailing with Robert and their friend, actor Christopher Walken, now 82, as well as the couple’s longtime skipper, Dennis Davern.

Her death was marked as an “accidental drowning” and has been the source of speculation for the past 40 years. Wagner and the other two men initially said that they believe Natalie took the dinghy and went to shore after an argument between her and Wagner. Per Natalie’s family and friends, she had an intense fear of dark water.

Wagner was considered as a person of interest when the case was re-opened in 2011 when Davern went to the police and reported that he heard a heated argument between the two prior to her death. He previously withheld this information.

After a 10 year investigation, Wagner was cleared of any suspicion in 2022. The case remains open.
