The ex-NBA player and now ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins, who during a sports debate said that Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is the most influential Black man after Barack Obama till now, has caused a huge and controversial reaction. Perkins’s statement was extremely bold, that was a televised sports debate and has produced a tremendous and split reaction in the sports world situations, with many people doubting the comparison’s legitimacy.

Perkins was very passionate during the segment and explained his point thoroughly. He claimed that Sanders is exhibiting a particular kind of confidence that is laced with a certain degree of low-key-ness that is very attractive to the public. “You got the black community. Come back after the Niners game,” referring to his recent NFL preseason performance with the Denver Broncos. Another fan supported this view by simply asserting, “Play somebody,” indicating that the young quarterback has yet to demonstrate that he can compete against the top professional players. The criticism was not only directed at Sanders but also at Perkins as one person remarked, “clout chasing & he doesn’t kno a damn thing about football!!!”
Among the critics, there were a few who acknowledged some merit in Perkins’s argument, yet disagreed with the Obama analogy.
