While Kate Middleton is well known for repurposing some of her favored fashions, she may have just been upstaged by another member of the royal family: Princess Anne.

The Princess Royal, 75, and her husband, Sir Tim Laurence, 70, were in Singapore this week, marking 60 years of diplomatic relations between the country and the U.K., following their Remembrance Day events in Australia. Singapore became a member of the Commonwealth of Nations in October 1965.

It was during Anne’s visit to the Rolls-Royce Seletar Campus on Nov. 13 that an eagle-eyed royal fan noticed she was rewearing a tan safari suit she had first worn more than 50 years ago.

The princess was photographed in the ensemble back in July 1973, when she and her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips, attended a polo match at Smith’s Lawn in Windsor Park.

She wore the suit again at Heathrow Airport in 1975, upon returning from an equestrian event in Boston with Phillips, an Olympic gold medalist in the sport.

Anne and her first husband were married from 1973 to 1992, and share two children, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall.

In her later years, Anne appears to have taken to wearing the favored suit with a blouse underneath, matching the retro pointed collar and rolling up her sleeves.

She and Laurence, who have been married since 1992, both took part in pilot training simulations at the Airbus Asia training centre in Singapore during their visit.

Often referred to as the “hardest-working royal,” Princess Anne has continued to surprise royal watchers even into her 75th year. To mark her milestone birthday on Aug. 15, she showed off a new hairstyle, swapping her signature bouffant of five decades for an elegant chignon.

But perhaps the most surprising engagement of the year for Queen Elizabeth’s only daughter came in September, when she visited the South Wales workshop of luxury underwear brand Edge o’ Beyond’ in her long-term role as president of the U.K. Fashion and Textile Association.

Showing no hesitation amidst the silky offerings, Anne fit right in, touring the studio and speaking with the lingerie designers about everything from constructing corsets to the issues surrounding “censorship of the female body.”

Edge o’ Beyond’s founder, Naomi De Haan, told The Telegraph at the time that the Princess Royal was “very cool, very interested in everything,” adding that she “came across as very feminist.”
