Rachel Webb is playing Juliet in the touring company of the Broadway musical & Juliet and we caught up with her ahead of the show’s run in Los Angeles!
The rising star was an ensemble member in the original Broadway production of the show and she assumed the lead role to launch the North American tour.
Rachel is no stranger to life on tour as she previously has performed on the road with Kristin Chenoweth during her For the Girls Tour!
The new musical flips the script on the greatest love story ever told. & Juliet asks: what would happen next if Juliet didn’t end it all over Romeo? Get whisked away on a fabulous journey as she ditches her famous ending for a fresh beginning and a second chance at life and love—her way. The musical uses the songbook of pop music writer Max Martin, including songs like “Since U Been Gone‚” “Roar,” “Baby One More Time,” “Larger Than Life‚” “That’s The Way It Is,” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”
We chatted with Rachel to learn 10 Fun Facts about her that fans likely don’t know:
- If I could meet any artist from black history, I would meet Mahalia Jackson. THE voice. Ugh, such power and depth. I would love to have been a fly on the wall in her rehearsal process.
- I grew up singing Gospel, Jazz and R&B because that is all my mom played in the house. Think Whitney, Luther Vandross, Donald Lawrence & Yolanda Adams.
- I love my big family! My grandmother is one of 17, so I have a lot of cousins. Many of whom I met for the first time on tour.
- I got a 4/5 score on the Calculus AP Exam and 5/5 score on Music Theory. Makes sense because my mom was an accountant and singer, and my dad is an engineer and drummer. Math and music.
- I failed every other AP exam that I took in high school — Environmental Science, English, World History, and American History.

- I almost failed my driving test. The lady had to teach me how to parallel park in the driving test.
- I love neutral colors and MONOCHROMATIC outfits. For instance, my tour travel day fit consists of a comfortable brown loungey set, a brown hat, a brown jacket, a brown scarf, a brown purse, and brown luggage. Don’t play with me.
- Favorite color: Brown… but I feel like its about to change to some sort of deep, velvety raspberry hue… like wine yunno.
- Favorite singer: Sheléa
- Coffee order: Oatmilk (or almond milk) Matcha with rose flavoring. Hot or iced!
You can catch & Juliet at Center Theatre Group’s Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles from August 13 to September 7. The production will then move about one hour south to Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa from September 9 to 21.
