Jujutsu Kaisen fans have plenty to be excited for in the coming months — and an early peek at The Culling Game is certainly at the top of that list.

On Friday, Oct. 17, GKIDS Films shared the teaser for Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution, a forthcoming theatrical release that compiles the anime’s “Shibuya Incident” arc with the first two episodes of the series’ long-awaited third season, The Culling Game: Part 1.

While the trailer teases most of what fans already know about the previously released “Shibuya Incident” arc, it also wraps with a tense look at characters Yuta Okkotsu and Yuji Itadori. The compilation movie arrives in theaters in the U.S. on Dec. 5.

Per a synopsis from distributor GKIDS, the film — which is set to premiere in Japan a month prior to its U.S. arrival — follows jujutsu sorcerer Satoru Gojo as “a veil abruptly descends over the busy Shibuya area amid the bustling Halloween crowds, trapping countless civilians inside.” Gojo must step “into the chaos” as spirits are “scheming to seal him away.”

“Yuji Itadori, accompanied by his classmates and other top-tier jujutsu sorcerers, enters the fray in an unprecedented clash of curses — the Shibuya Incident. In the aftermath, 10 colonies across Japan are transformed into dens of curses in a plan orchestrated by Noritoshi Kamo, the most wicked sorcerer in history,” the synopsis continues. “As the deadly Culling Game starts, Special Grade sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu is assigned to carry out Yuji’s execution for his perceived crimes. The desperate confrontation between Satoru Gojo’s two beloved students comes to the big screen with an early preview.”

Those who watch the film will be among the first “to experience Yuji and Yuta’s fateful battle with the hotly anticipated kickoff to season 3,” per GKIDS.

Execution is only the latest film in the universe of Jujutsu Kaisen, which previously spawned the 2021 prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0. The Culling Game Part 1, the show’s forthcoming third season, is scheduled to officially arrive on Crunchyroll in January 2026.

On Oct. 12, the series’ English dub voice cast caught up with Polygon at New York Comic Con, where Gojo voice actor Kaiji Tang revealed his thoughts on recent anime box-office smashes in the U.S. In October, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle became the highest-grossing international film ever in the U.S.

“Hollywood will try to look at this and be like, ‘Oh, man, anime films, let’s go, right?’ But I think the true formula to an anime film’s success is you really need those build up seasons,” Tang said.

“You need to have followed the story for two, three, four years. To see the culmination of that story, or at least a very big part of it, on the big screen is kind of a reward for being there for all those seasons,” he added. “That’s when you get the huge Demon Slayer numbers. That’s when you get all these fans hype for the movie, that’s the secret.”

Tang concluded, “I think if you just started releasing random anime movies, you’re not going to get the Demon Slayer numbers.”
