Alli Simpson has loudly and clearly announced the release of her new podcast, ”So Alli,” starting off with the most awaited episode featuring her brother, the singer Cody Simpson. They both opened their childhood music worlds to the public, sharing with the audience what they had not yet told and what they had gone through with their careers, in a way, through their struggles. The news was greeted with collective happiness from her fans, who were the first ones to anticipate the collaboration. Just the hint of “unheard sibling tea” was more than sufficient to get the audience all excited about the release of the episode.

In one of the sample conversations, the singers told a lot about themselves. They mentioned the very hard time of being child stars and young Cody was talking about the years when he was only 13 and everybody recognized him and knew him as a singer. He tells how he pushed through with the help of his mum and dad, as the whole thing turned out to be quite a different experience for him. His period was very rough during which he got to live in America for six months after he had been uprooted from Australia. The conversation also highlights some of the negative sides of becoming famous, such as being addicted and feeling kids’ play was a lost thing. Cody even admits to slamming the door in fury after a fan-mob incident, which is very different from the well-behaved person the public normally gets to see him as.

The listeners are entertained along with the heavy issues. The podcast is about seriously talking about the past—the hardships and the aftermath—but at the same time bringing the fun and good moods as if the siblings were just talking naturally. Alli humorously brings up the issue of Cody’s relationship with her best friend and the two even tease each other about their past loves, while making a promise not to go out with each other’s friends again. The blend of emotional revelation and comedy gives the listeners a lively and interesting experience.

Negatively judging by the speed of the audience’s reaction, their reactions were mostly positive. One commentator expressed the common feeling in a very simple way when he said, “this is the alli lore we needed”, and with that, he also made clear that the very personal stories resemble the jigsaw pieces of the puzzle lost for the long-time onlookers. The comment section became a memory lane with another person commenting, “is it wrong that I know everything you guys are talking about just because I grew up with both of you?” This is strong evidence of the unique bond the Simpsons have with their fans, who honestly have kept growing up with them.

Another fan, who remarked, “Omg I dated my brother’s best friend tooooo, must be an Alli thing,” was totally in sync with the sibling drama going on. This comment is very revealing of how Alli’s confiding in personal matters has a furthering story that the public can relate to, allowing the content to flow effortlessly into the listeners. The excitement was so high one could almost see it in the comments like “Oh we’re being fed 🤭🤭 I can’t wait,” which is a good sign of the new podcast venture’s success.

Other comments testified to the unchanging influence of Cody’s music. One listener told a story that struck him/her very emotionally strong: “I played Wish You Were Here really loud on my way to the bar and my friends asked me what’s this weird thing you are listening to, honestly I almost left them at the roadside.” This kind of very deep emotional bond with their art is surely what the Simsons’ kids have developed over their lifetime. Through the podcast, they will be sharing the world of context and backstage stories with the public while also deepening their connection with the audience.
