Denise Richards’ estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, was taken into custody following a court appearance on Friday (October 17), and both legal teams are now speaking out amid the escalating situation.
The 54-year-old reality star was in court for a hearing to change her temporary restraining order against Aaron into a permanent one. Immediately after, L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies arrested him.

Eyewitnesses told Us Weekly that the 53-year-old actor appeared “confused” as L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies arrested him outside the courtroom and escorted him away. Denise remained calm while speaking with her legal team.
Denise’s attorney confirmed to the outlet that the arrest was for “spousal abuse,” while an eyewitness told them Aaron “didn’t seem to understand that he was about to get arrested.”
Aaron’s attorney, Michael Finley, spoke to TMZ, claiming his client was unaware of the warrant. The lawyer accused Denise’s side of potentially pushing Aaron to incriminate himself during the proceedings.
During the hearing, Aaron’s mother provided testimony, alleging that she once saw Denise throw a can opener at her son and denying that he had ever abused or threatened the actress.
Denise previously alleged that Aaron was abusive to her during their marriage, even claiming he’d “almost killed” her multiple times.
