My Dog Is Getting Into the Halloween Spirit Thanks to PetSmart’s Comfy $15 Costume He Actually Enjoys Wearing

My dog is my whole world, and he’s really well behaved when I try to dress him up. This makes it all the more fun when Halloween rolls around and it’s time to choose a costume. 

This year, I had the opportunity to try out the Thrills & Chills Pet Dinosaur Costume from PetSmart, and it’s by far my favorite one from the past few years. If you’re also hoping to dress your pet in something festive for the holiday, this costume, and plenty of other adorable options, are on sale for just $15 at PetSmart and will arrive by October 31.

I’ve bought my fair share of intricate costumes for my dog, including ones that required time to put on, but this dinosaur-inspired piece is the simplest — and arguably the most comfortable — of the bunch. It comes with an easy-to-attach body that wraps around his neck and stomach, along with a hat. It’s so effortless that it takes me less than two minutes to dress him. He seemed comfortable wearing it around my house and didn’t try to wriggle out of it or pull the headpiece off, which is always a telltale sign that he doesn’t mind leaving it on. 

Although my dog is usually comfortable with clothing, this is a great costume for anyone who hasn’t dressed their dog up before, since it’s fairly foolproof and doesn’t require stepping their legs into anything. The body of the costume is soft to the touch, and the legs are plushly stuffed, so they don’t add extra weight when he wears it on walks (a major plus if you plan to take your dog trick-or-treating). 

While the website doesn’t offer a size guide, I took my best guess and went with the medium, which ended up fitting perfectly. My dog is around 35 pounds and has a stockier build, and the Velcro-clad straps that go around his neck and waist still had extra room to spare if I needed to tighten them. It’s available in XS through 2XL and arrived at my doorstep quickly.
