Taylor Swift’s The Life os a Showgirl officially debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 4.002 million units, making it the biggest first week of any album ever in the US.
The previous record was held by Adele’s 25 with 3.4 million for the last ten years.
Swift took to Instagram to thank her fans for helping her break this record.

‘The Life of a Showgirl’ sold 3,479,500 copies in pure album sales in its first week (purchases of digital downloads, CDs, vinyl LPs and cassette tapes).
That is the single largest sales week for an album since 1991, when Luminate began electronically tracking music sales.
