While appearing on Zach Sang Show, David was asked if he ever talks to Jake, or if he’s ever been worried about him.

“I mean, look, you know, the show ended and everyone kind of went their separate ways. You konw, a show is like a high school or college. Movies are that way too. You spend so much time together, you get to know people so well and then you go your separate ways,” David said. “You know, he lives in a different part of the United States. We’d all get together every so often. You know, I think maybe almost yearly or every other year. We’d get the whole cast back together and hang out.”

David then noted that he knew Jake cleared his Instagram, but he wants “the absolute freaking best for him.”

He then shared, “I want him back on the show. I’d love to get him back on the show! I’ve let him know we want it to happen, and I think next season if, you know, we continue, if that continues to work out well, hell yeah, we’d get him back on. That’s the hope. I’d love to get him back on next season.”

In season one, it was revealed that Jake‘s character Max took over the family business and turned it into a billion dollar business by franchising the Waverly Sub Station. It has also been shared that he lives on a yacht houseboat on the Long Island Sound.

It was previously thought that Jake would appear on the new show after he commented on a reunion photo of his co-stars in season one.

Also on Zach Sang Show, David revealed another actor from the original series they tried to bring back – Octavia Spencer, who played Dr. Evilini, whose son appeared in Wizards Beyond season one!

“We wanted to try to get her back. We tried to get her back for the first season. I think timing didn’t work out,” David shared.
