Marissa Bode Talks Viral Change to Her Character In ‘Wicked: For Good’ Trailer


Marissa Bode is opening up about that major change to her character, which was teased in the Wicked: For Good trailer!

The 25-year-old actress reprises her role as Nessarose in the upcoming sequel, who is Elphaba’s disabled younger sister.

In a new interview, Marissa addresses a change to the plot from the stage musical that they made for her in the movie, which went viral after the trailer’s release.

In the Broadway musical (spoiler alert), Nessarose is made to be able to walk again, but Marissa is bound to her wheelchair, much like the character, and they made a change to this plot point for the movie.

“I am so happy with the change, the old narrative was outdated,” she told Go Mag. “And I’ll be honest, it was really fun to fly through the air on set.”

The actress defended the change as she says it fits the themes of the musical better.

“Overall, the shift makes a lot of sense to me, considering ‘everyone deserves a chance to fly,’” she says, nodding to the famous lyric in “Defying Gravity.”
