The Pittsburgh Pirates fan who fell more than 20 feet onto the outfield during a game last spring and sustained serious injuries has been charged with prowling outside of his ex-girlfriend’s home, authorities said.
Kavan Markwood, 21, faces a misdemeanor charge of loitering and prowling at nighttime, according to court records obtained by TribLive.com.
The McKeesport, Pa. man tried to enter his ex-girlfriend’s home on Sunday, Sept. 28 at around 3:30 a.m. by “forcefully” knocking on her front door, the woman told police, according to the criminal complaint filed on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
The woman, who reportedly has a restraining order against Markwood, told authorities that he moved out of the house about four weeks before, according to TribLive.

Since then, he has allegedly been texting her messages about various vehicles that have been parked outside the residence and has been suspicious about another man being there, police said.
Ring video reviewed by police showed Markwood at the property, ringing the bell and then running away, according to ABC affiliate WTAE-TV.
Brentwood, Pa. police later found Markwood crouching in his vehicle, which was parked one street away, and smelling of alcohol, the complaint said.
Markwood was taken home by a friend and now faces the misdemeanor charge.
The former Division II football player was in court earlier this week to support his friend Ethan Kirkwood, who has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of furnishing liquor to Markwood, who was a minor at the time, at the game in which he fell, according to CBS affiliate KKDA-TV.
Markwood’s then-girlfriend Alonna Brown was also at the April 30 game at PNC Park. It is unclear if Brown is the ex-girlfriend who is involved in the incident on Sunday.
Markwood claimed to TribLive that the allegations against him are “not true at all.”
“That’s not the reason I was there,” Markwood said. “All I got to say is the devil tried to get me not once, twice, but three times this year.”
He added, “I’m going to wait to go to court.”
In the ex-girlfriend’s petition for a restraining order filed on Sept. 26, she alleged that Markwood drank alcohol to excess, verbally abused her, broke some of her belongings and owned a gun.
A judge ordered the alleged firearm to be taken away, and a preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 18, per TribLive.
Markwood suffered a brain injury as well as a broken back and neck, a punctured lung, and broken ribs in the fall, according to an interview he gave to Inside Edition last month.
“I don’t know how I’m alive,” he told the outlet. “I wake up with pain every day. My arm, I can’t feel my two fingers still. [But] I’m doing better than what I was, that’s for sure.”
