Alyssa Milano revealed that is having her breast implants removed, posting an Instagram photo of herself in her hospital bed before the procedure.
The 52-year-old Charmed actress, who helped popularize the hashtag #MeToo in Hollywood during Harvey Weinstein’s downfall, broke the news Wednesday.
She announced in her caption that she was ridding herself of ‘false narratives’ and ‘letting go of the body that was sexualized’ and ‘abused.’
Milano previously alleged in 2019 that when she was in her 20s an actor 17 years her senior – whom she declined to name – ‘put his hand under my underwear’ and attempted ‘to force his fingers inside me’ while filming a love scene with her.
In 1998 she also sued porn websites for posting explicit images of her without authorization, both genuine ones from a movie she was in and ones that purportedly had her head pasted over other women’s bodies.
Now she has shared that her breast augmentation was what she ‘believed was necessary for me to be attractive; to be loved; to be successful; to be happy.’

Without disclosing when she got the implants, she wrote: ‘Today I’m releasing those false narratives, the parts of me that were never actually parts of me.’
She added: ‘I’m letting go of the body that was sexualized, that was abused, that I believed was necessary for me to be attractive; to be loved; to be successful; to be happy. And in doing so, I hope I am releasing my daughter Bella from ever feeling those same unhealthy demands.’
Milano shares her 11-year-old daughter Elizabella and 14-year-old son Milo with her husband, talent agent David Bugliari, who founded a company that represents such names as Bradley Cooper and Danny McBride.
‘Now, I want to be clear that many women will find freedom and beauty in choosing their implants,’ Milano noted in her post about her breast reduction.
‘What is a false narrative for me may be the exact right thing for them, and I am so happy that we can all find our femininity and peace on our own terms.’
She also offered a tip of the hat to RuPaul’s Drag Race host Michelle Visage, who had her own breast implants excised in 2019 after deciding – contra her doctors – that they were to blame for her autoimmune condition Hashimoto’s.
‘I’m also tremendously inspired by women like Michelle Visage who have been open and public about their relationships with their breast implants, making it easier for me and countless others to find our own way,’ wrote Milano.
‘Today I am loved, I am feminine, I am attractive, and I am successful. None of that is because of my implants,’ she proudly declared.

‘I will still be all of those things when I wake up and they are gone. There is so much and joy in that knowledge and freedom in letting go of what was never me in the first place. Today, I’m my authentic self. Today, I’m free.’
Milano tagged Visage in her hospital Instagram picture, as well as her plastic surgeon Dr. Tim Neavin, who operates out of Beverly Hills.
She received a flood of praise in her comments, including from Visage, who wrote: ‘I’M THRILLED FOR YOU! The heal is real baby! See you on the lighter side.’
Baywatch alumna Nicole Eggert, who has had two mastectomies to treat her breast cancer, shared her own words of encouragement: ‘Yes to all of this.’
