He soared to fame in the Noughties with hits such as So Sick and Sexy Love.
Yet these days it’s Ne-Yo’s unconventional lifestyle that’s been dominating headlines, with the singer recently shocking onlookers when he took his four ‘wives’ out on a shopping trip.
Last year, the singer, 45, came out as polyamorous revealing he was living with three women who he called his ‘wives’ despite not being legally married.
He has shared several snaps with the ladies – who all call him daddy – and this year revealed he had added a fourth woman to the mix.

In February, he officially entered his ‘polycule’ stage – dating more than three people -when he welcomed dancer Brionna Williams (Sexy Lil’ Somethin’) into the mix.

Ne-Yo has previously defended his lifestyle, saying ‘Can’t see how it’s hurting anybody’, while also hitting out at the fact polygamy is illegal.
‘To be honest, I don’t need the government to tell me what I can and can’t do in my personal life,’ he told TMZ.
While he doesn’t want the government setting any rules, he did confess that he has rules for his wives.
Speaking on The Angie Martinez Show, he explained: ‘What I say goes… and you can’t date other men.
‘When I got with these women, I did not ask for their exclusivity. I did not demand their exclusivity. They asked for it.
‘They came to me and said “I want to be exclusive to you and just you.”
‘I said, “You understand that your exclusivity to me, does not mean my exclusivity to you? You understand this, yes? You’re OK with it?”‘
He went on to note that the main rule to follow was keeping things transparent.

‘The main rule is to just keep it a buck. We’re not gonna lie,’ he shared.
‘We’re not gonna lie to each other. We’re not gonna sit up here and blow smoke. I ain’t selling no dreams, and I’m not forcing anybody to be here.
‘If for whatever reason you decide this isn’t for you anymore, the door is never locked.
‘You have permission to go on about your business. I don’t want anybody to think that I’m manipulating these women into doing something they don’t want to do.’
Ne-Yo confessed that there was one setback, however, explaining: ‘One of the major challenges is time, because I don’t have a lot of free time, I have seven beautiful children.’
The singer, shares his children with three former partners – who he dated monogamously.
Yet in another chat, Ne-Yo admitted that ‘his love life is phenomenal’ and that he’s ‘in a great space’, he added: ‘I have four beautiful ladies that who move with me on a regular’.
The Miss Independent hitmaker and his sister wives aren’t shy about flaunting their wild lifestyle all over social media.

Discussing the ‘rules’ he has for his wives, Ne-Yo said: ‘What I say goes… and you can’t date other men. ‘When I got with these women, I did not ask for their exclusivity. They asked for it’
After receiving backlash from some of the singer’s fans, Phoenix took to Instagram to defend their unconventional relationship.
‘Yes we’re in the public eye and we know people are gonna voice their opinion, that’s what’s expected,’ she wrote.
‘But y’all need to understand over here it’s a solid foundation we understand each other. We stand on 10 when it comes to each other a lot people will never understand that and that’s cool just know it’s US VS NOBODY,’ she added.
Ne-Yo, a divorced father-of-seven, then warned that having multiple wives or girlfriends isn’t for everybody.
‘I don’t recommend anything to anybody – what works for me might not work for you, or vice-versa,’ he said.
In another interview with TMZ, Ne-Yo said that he has ‘no cap’ on how many girlfriends he can handle, saying that he’s happy to have ‘as many as you can afford.’
The Give Me Everything singer was previously married to Crystal Renay from 2016 until their divorce was finalized in 2023.
The former couple share three children: Shaffer Jr., eight, Roman, six, and Isabella Rose, three.

He also has children with ex-girlfriends Sade Bagnerise and Monyetta Shaw.
Back in April 2022, Ne-Yo and Crystal renewed their vows, but she filed for divorce only four months later and claimed that he had been unfaithful to her.
She issued an emotional statement on Instagram at the time which read, ‘Eight years. Eight years of lies and deception.’
It continued, ‘Eight years unknowingly sharing my life and husband with numerous women…’
‘To say I’m heartbroken and disgusted is a understatement. To ask me to stay and accept it is absolutely insane. The mentality of a narcissist.’
She finished, ‘I choose me, I choose happiness and health and my respect. I gained three beautiful children out of this but nothing else but wasted years and heartache.’
In an interview with Atlanta Black Star last August, Crystal said that she never would have married Ne-Yo if she knew that he was into polyamory.
In 2023, Ne-Yo’s ex Monyetta claimed that the singer’s obsession with threesomes led to their breakup.

‘We cheated together, if that makes sense,’ she told YouTuber Haus of Aaron, holding up three fingers.
‘We did things together. It’s not cheating if you’re involved with it … and then it just wasn’t enough [for him].’
She continued, ‘I was like, “Well, no, I didn’t sign up to do this every day.” It became a problem when he wanted that a lot.
‘I was like, “If you want that, then you don’t want me.” I tried to keep it cute and spicy, but it wasn’t enough. But it is what it is.’
