The family of Celeste Rivas, the 15-year-old girl whose body was found in a Tesla owned by singer D4vd, has broken their silence as they prepare to lay their daughter to rest.
“As many of you know, Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the body found last week,” the family wrote in a statement shared to a GoFundMe page titled “Help Lay Celeste Rivas Hernandez to Rest.” “She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. Her family is heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss.”
The GoFundMe has raised more than $14,000 out of its $20,000 goal as of Friday afternoon with donations from more than 500 individuals.
Authorities first discovered Rivas’ remains on September 8 while responding to a call about a “foul odor coming from a vehicle at a tow yard” on Mansfield Avenue in Hollywood. The car turned out to be registered to D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.

Rivas had been missing since April 5, 2024, when she was 13 years old. She was last seen in Lake Elsinore, California, which is about 70 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
Law enforcement was able to confirm the body belonged to Rivas on Wednesday, September 17, though additional testing will be needed to determine a cause of death. They also noted that the body appeared to have been in the car for a long time and that it was “severely decomposed.”

Rivas’ mother told TMZ in a story published Wednesday that her daughter had a boyfriend named David and that she had a tattoo on her finger with the letters “Shhhh.” D4vd has the same tattoo.

Police confirmed to NBC News that they searched a home near where the body was found in connection with the case. Though D4vd does not own the property, he had allegedly been staying there before his tour, according to ABC News.
D4vd has canceled the final two stops on his Withered Tour amid the investigation, TMZ reported on Friday, September 19. Tickets for the European leg of his tour, which begins October 1, are still on sale.
A spokesperson for the “Romantic Homicide” singer told NBC News that D4vd “has been informed about what’s happened, and although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities.”
D4vd has not been named as a suspect or charged with a crime.
