Emerald Fennell explains quotes around ‘Wuthering Heights’ film title

Press has begun for “Wuthering Heights” and director Emerald Fennell and the cast sat down with Fandango to answer questions. Regarding her decision to put quotation marks around the film’s title, Fennell explained, “I think it’s a lot of things, but I think that primarily because the book means so much to me and it means so, so much to so many people… But the thing for me is that you can’t adapt a book as dense and complicated and difficult as this book.”

“I can’t say I’m making Wuthering Heights. It’s not possible. What I can say is I’m making a version of it,” she continued. “There’s a version that I remembered reading that isn’t quite real. And there’s a version where I wanted stuff to happen that never happened. And so it is ‘Wuthering Heights’, and it isn’t.”

Additionally, the stars were asked about onscreen chemistry and Jacob Elordi said there were moments between he and Margot Robbie where they’d look at each other and ‘feel unrequited love’.

Ticket sales began yesterday and allegedly went well with Global Box Office tracking to make $25M-$30M opening weekend. It is now projected to be Jacob Elordi highest-grossing movie ever and Margot Robbie biggest release since Barbie.
