Matthew Lawrence (45) and Chilli (54) of TLC are looking back on the unexpected beginning of their real-life love story. They initially met at a ’90s convention and reconnected years later when a snowstorm delayed his flight and put him on a new plane a row away from Chilli. What followed was months of friendship with marathon six-hour phone calls that turned into something more when the timing was right.
Matthew previously dated his Boy Meets World co-star Danielle Fishel and was engaged to Passions actress Heidi Jo Mueller. He married DWTS pro Cheryl Burke in 2019 and divorced in 2022. Chilli has a son with producer Dallas Austin (some of the songs he produced include Cool by Gwen Stefani, Motownphilly by Boyz II Men, Secret by Madonna, The Boy Is Mine by Brandy and Monica, Iesha by Another Bad Creation, Hit ‘Em Up Style by Blu Cantrell, and Creep by TLC). She also dated Usher from 2001 to 2003.
Matthew and Chilli have a Hallmark+ show called Second Chance Love which features five couples who range in age from their 30s to their 70s and dated between five and 40 years ago. The former couples reconnect in Sardinia, Italy, for two weeks to revisit their pasts, confront unfinished business, and decide whether to rekindle their relationships. The show premiered on January 1st.
