Timothee Chalamet on his Peers (and KPop Demon Hunters?): “Western Culture is not a given”

START AT 44:00

Timothee Chalamet was on former-NBA player Carmelo Anthony’s 7PM in Brooklyn podcast where they talked about the Knicks, Kendrick Lamar, his pursuit of greatness, and of course his latest film, Marty Supreme. When talking about how competitive he is, Chalamet was asked if he viewed other actors on the cover of trade publications (ala “New Hollywood” type covers) the way athletes view other athletes.

“This is my new perspective on this. Western culture is not a given. Like KPop Demon Hunters was the biggest thing on Netflix, right? So anytime anybody in ‘Western culture’ is popping, it’s good and lifts everyone up, you know. So when I see other actors my age, they’re doing great, that’s honestly how I’ve taught myself to feel.”
