Model Winnie Harlow has been doing Whitney Houston inspired looks for Halloween this year, including from the “I I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” Music Video.
“The woman who made us all Wanna Dance with Somebody. The icon, the Voice. Whitney Houston,” she wrote in an Instagram caption.
However, her second Whitney costume has become somewhat controversial. In the post, Harlow impersonates Houston’s acceptance speech at the 2001 BET Awards, where she received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Despite captioning it “one of my favourite Whitney moments“, several fans have deemed the post ‘disrespectful’ and finding the post to be mocking rather than a tribute. This being because Whitney was apparently struggling with an addiction at the time.
