J-Pop Emergency: Perfume to go on an indefinite hiatus from 2026

– Japanese girlgroup Perfume has announced on their official fanclub P.T.A. (which is log in required) that they’ll be suspending their activities at the end of this year.
– Said that in order to commemorate this moment that [Perfume] can proudly say that they’re ‘shining’, they’ll be taking a ‘cold sleep’.
– Said it’s time for them to find their new selves after being active as a group for 25 years.
– Said they will come back better and stronger. [Full letter in Japanese if you want to read, although it might be taken down soon since it’s a paid fanclub post]
– Perfume was formed in 1999, and had a major label debut in 2005 with Linear Motor Girl. Since then they have released many bops, such as Polyrhythm, Secret Secret, love the world, One Room Disco, etc. And yes I will die on the hill that GAME is still their most superior album

First Arashi and now Perfume… at least it’s only a hiatus for Perfume, and they deserve it after such a long active time. But I’m still pretty sad :'(
