Mariah Carey shows support for trans community at UK show

Mariah Carey had to cancel her UK shows in 2020 due to COVID. When she finally returned to the UK this weekend, she wore a dress in the colors of the trans flag and a jacket emblazoned with “protect the dolls” on the back (both designed by Julian Mendez Couture).

Mariah, a longtime supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community, is the latest celebrity to show public support for the trans community by using the “protect the dolls” slogan, which was popularized by the t-shirt Connor Ives wore at the end of his Fall/Winter 2025 runway show during London Fashion Week in February 2025. Since then, celebrities like Pedro Pascal, Troye Sivan, and Kesha have been spotted wearing Connor’s shirt (all proceeds of the official shirt are donated to Trans Lifeline, a crisis hotline that offers peer support to the trans community.
